Facial Pre-Treatment Instructions

Please refer to the following pre-care instructions before each appointment that you have at SKINLAB:

  • If you are using a topical Retin-A/Retinoid/Retinol/Tretinoin cream that has been prescribed to you by a Dermatologist, please discontinue use of this for at least 4 to 5 days leading up to your facial. If you are receiving a Chemical Peel, you must discontinue use of these products for a full week/sometimes 2 weeks before treatment.
  • A Facial Treatment cannot be performed if you are currently taking Accutane/Isotretinoin. If you are currently taking Accutane or have taken Accutane within the last 6 months, please reach out to us to reschedule your appointment for a later date.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure as much as possible before a facial treatment. If you feel as though you have a sunburn on your face, reach out to us, as we may need to reschedule your appointment depending on the severity of the burn. A facial treatment will not be performed on extreme sunburned/peeling skin.
  • It is recommended to wait at least 2 weeks after receiving any injectables of the face before getting a facial treatment. Most facials at SKINLAB involve a lot of facial massage and manipulation of the skin, in certain cases, this can alter the healing process of your injectables depending on what you have done. This timeline is truly dependent on your Injector/Service Provider, please check in with them to see what they recommend before coming in for your facial.
  • Please keep in mind that it is a requirement to avoid wearing any face makeup/foundation for at least 24 hours after receiving any facial. Depending on what type of facial you are having done & what the downtime is, this requirement can be longer. Make sure to plan your facial appointment accordingly.
